Stay Informed

We have agreed it is our personal responsibility to stay informed.

Community-wide decisions are made through the Nyland's Decision Making process, generally following a consensus-like approach.  All decisions are made after any community members who wish to contribute their ideas have done so.  Each community member is responsible for staying informed as to the business and decisions of the community; if not, the member agrees to live with the consequences of being uninformed.  Some of the avenues for staying informed are:  attending community meetings, reading minutes from community meetings, reading notices on the community bulletin boards, reading notices placed in cubbies, reading the Nyland News, speaking with other community members, and checking the Nyland Natter email group.

The members of the Nyland community create guidelines and informal agreements about how we want to relate as neighbors, and about what kind of community we aspire to be. These guidelines and agreements are separate from the legal policies of the Nyland Community Association and its Board of Directors. Community guidelines are not HOA governance documents; they represent members’ intentions and aspirations for the community norms we want to foster, and they are not legally binding.
